Greetings !
When I was in college I wished to adopt teaching as my profession. However, destiny had something else in store. I ended up being in the corporate world in the field of finance & accounts, taxation, ERP-JD Edwards and labor laws.
During the long stint with different industries spanning from 1974 to 2013, I have had to interview many job aspirants. These were mostly freshers or people with 4-5 years of work experience. I found that some candidates could not reply to basic questions on subjects they had studied in HSC and graduation. I sensed that the main reason behind this is the way our current education system is structured. The manner in which knowledge is imparted to the students currently focuses mostly on the theoretical concepts while emphasis on teaching practical application/implication is negligible or completely lackadaisical.
Once I shared my view about teaching and training as a career after my retirement from the corporate world, with my mentor and guide, who has been a faculty and dean of prestigious Business School in the world. I have known him since his college days as a student. He advised me to go ahead and provided his valuable guidance on teaching methodology. His advice further strengthened my desire to venture in the field of teaching and sharing my knowledge.
